A load is over-dimensional when it is wider, taller, longer or heavier than the road limits allow. These moves need permits, planning and sometimes escorts. We arrange the whole move for you.
What is involved
- Permits. Oversize and overweight permits are needed for each province or state the load crosses.
- Route planning. The route has to avoid low bridges, tight turns and weight-restricted roads.
- Escorts and timing. Some loads need escort vehicles, and some can only travel at certain times of day or on certain days.
- Loading. Where it helps, machines can be partly disassembled so they fit a trailer or container.
Good to know
- Exact dimensions and weight matter a great deal. Please send them with your request, or tell us the model and we will look them up.
- Permit rules and lead times vary by route, so we confirm them as part of the quote.
- For ocean freight of very large machines, see RORO Ocean Shipping.
